VIC Volunteer FAM Tour

MAVCB staff hosted their annual spring FAM tour for the VIC Volunteers on Thursday, May 18, 2011.

The volunteers "tasted and toured" their way thru Manitowoc and the surrounding area. Starting at the VIC, volunteers snacked on donut holes provided by Festival Foods while waiting for our bus to arrive.
Then our trip began:

  • We visited Andercraft Woods in Mishicot, where they hand create wonderful yard ornaments, bird houses and feeders, and unique gifting ideas. And they very generously supplied us with wonderful cookies and coffee on a cold and rainy spring morning.
  • We took a sneak peak at Scheffel's Hideaway Campground where Paul & Tammie Scheffel were preparing for their grand opening and very generously gave us lovely tomato plants. (All have agreed they are producing well).
  • At Carreaux Du Nord we got to see all the beautiful custom tile patterns and colors that are made and produced in a huge old house and studio in Two Rivers.
  • While traveling back to Manitowoc along Mariners Trail on hwy 42 we saw glimpses of the new sculptures that are appearing along the lake.
  • Our next stop was at Kids Gear, a fun shop for gently used childrens clothing.
  • Tasty food samples were provided at Revolutions Bar & Grill where we were given a full tour of the duck pin bowling alley in the basement and could see some of the Album covers from a vast music collection.
  • Then we were off to Book World where we were treated to cookies and a wonderful talk by June Kramer about the kids bookclubs, tabacco supplies and literary offerings.
  • At A>cute Angle the Gentlemen in our group worried a little bit as the Ladies looked at all the great buys, clothes, jewelry and gifts that are available there.
  • We stopped in at LaDeDa Books & Beans for coffee samples, and a look at the new and used books that are available in this cozy and interesting shop.
  • To finish up our tour we stopped at Wenzel's Perfect World where we tried out snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and the great swinging chairs.

FAM Tours are a great way to educate our volunteers about new and existing marketing partners.

We would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Rich Hanke, VIC Volunteer, for all the wonderful photos that he took during the FAM Tour. We really appreciate his time and talent.
