Scholar for Life: Protecting the Internet/The Mathematics of Passwords & Date Encryption

November 1, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Presented by Dr. Brian Murphy. Today’s society is dependent upon the internet; most of us rely on it to conduct our day-to-day business. Keeping our information private is, of course, extremely important. UW-Manitowoc Associate Professor of Mathematics Brian Murphy relates the history of data encryption from a mathematical standpoint, and he describes coders’ efforts to keep information private. Dr. Murphy received a B.S. from Boise State University and his M.S. from Marquette University. He completed his Ph.D. in biomathematical modeling at Marquette. This public lecture, in partnership with UW-Manitowoc, provides access to lifelong learning that enhances our lives and community. No registration is required.
