Marlene Longmeyer
-- over 390 hours since March
2007
Marlene has been a Visitor Center
volunteer since 2007 and a carferry greeter since 2010.
She enjoys helping visitors and sharing information
about the Manitowoc - Two Rivers area.
In
addition to helping at the VIC and carferry dock, she
volunteers at Holy Family Memorial Hospital in the
Pastoral Care Office and at Hope
House. She also tutors Jefferson
School students at Lakeshore United Methodist
Church.
Marlene
loves spending time with her family, especially
her 5 grandchildren. She
also enjoys reading, traveling, history, and
dominos.

appreciate your friendliness, helpfulness and
knowledge about our community.

Wisconsin's Schooner Coast
Hosts Denis Sullivan Voyage |

Wisconsin's Schooner Coast, a new
tourist destination, will be hosting the the Denis
Sullivan, the world's only re-creation of a 19th
century three-masted Great Lakes schooner.
On
June 25-26, 2011 the Denis Sullivan will be docked next
to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum as part of the Museum's
annual River Rendezvous event. They will offer deck

The Wisconsin State H.O.G. Rally returns to the
lakeshore June 23-25, 2011 for "Mutiny on the Beach" at Neshotah Beach
and Park, Two Rivers. Help us
welcome Rally riders by advertising in the
State Rally Program Book. The book will be stuffed
inside the Rally Welcome Packets for distribution

MAVCB Celebrates
National Tourism Week

The MAVCB is planning an
educational "Tourism Summit" event Thursday, May
12, 7:30 am, Holiday Inn of Manitowoc. Featured
speakers will be Dave Fantle, Deputy
Secretary, Wisconsin Department of Tourism; Carla
Minsky of Armadillo Marketing; and Connie
Loden, Manitowoc
County Economic Development
Corporation.

MAVCB Awarded
$15,000 TIC
Grant |

The
MAVCB was awarded a $15,000 TIC
Grant by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism in
2010. The Manitowoc VIC has one of the highest
traffic patterns in the state and has greeted over
750,000 visitors since 1993! The Manitowoc Visitor
Center fit all the required criteria in every way and
more. |

Guides! |

The "all
new" MAVCB Discovery Guide features a new design, new
maps and many new MAVCB Marketing Partner ads and
listings. The Guide features the winning photos of
the Second Annual MAVCB Digital Photo Contest
throughout the guide. 
Also
new is the Microsoft Smart TAG featured on the
front cover. Snapping a picture of the TAG
with a smart phone brings up the MAVCB website which also has Facebook and Twitter social networking pages and a
link to view the Guide online.
The
Discovery Guide is the main response piece to
MAVCB advertising, and our "lure" to attract visitors to
our destination. We hope you are pleased with the
publication and more importantly, we hope it generates

participant of the Hampton Save-A-Landmark program, they
received new hardwood floors, painted wood trim, a new
entry way for Ed Berners' Ice Cream Parlor inside and
many other renovations. Most recently, local
woodworkers designed and created a new front
entrance by using old photos of the original
1850 entrance.
